Reporting to the Pickerington, OH office.
The specification consultant will provide professional door and hardware consulting and specification writing services to the architectural community with the objective of increasing the market awareness and penetration of related ASSA ABLOY products.
- Preparation of "Opening" specifications including: door hardware, steel door & frame, wood door and electrified access control hardware sections. Established goals will be set for annual openings, dollars specified and project "hit ratios" corresponding to level of experience and marketplace.
- Act as a professional and knowledgeable consulting resource to the architectural community concerning all types of opening related solutions and product recommendations.
- Conduct on-going educational seminars (AIA/CES) and product training events to multiple design team decision makers and influencers.
- Routinely interact and communicate with local DSS agencies concerning specification bid coverage, end user specification guides and design standards, distribution "ghostwriting", major project tracking (McGraw/Hill Dodge), sales growth objectives and related marketplace strategies.
- Active participation and networking within local industry professional organizations (CSI, AIA, DHI).

Position Qualifications
- College bachelor degree strongly preferred with High School Diploma/GED a minimum requirement.
- Minimum 3 years industry related (i.e. commercial construction, contract hardware) experience with specification writing experience strongly preferred.
- Door and Hardware Institute accreditation as an AHC, CDC or EHC. Construction Specification Institute certification as a CDT or CCPR is a plus. Actively working towards professional industry credentials will be a requirement of successful candidates.
- Relevant employment history (specification writer, contract hardware distribution, construction management, architectural, sales representative, industry manufacturer)
- Extensive door and hardware product application knowledge in key construction market segments including K-12, Healthcare, Office/Commercial and Universities.
- Able to read, interpret and review architectural construction documents including door schedules, floor plans, elevations, submittals, shop drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Above average computer skills. Must be proficient in major Microsoft "Office Suite" software programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Working knowledge of Comsense software tools a plus.
- Experience with conducting product training or educational seminar presentations.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and follow up habits. Ability to meet multiple project deadlines and exercise effective time management.
