Job description Mechanical Technician

To assemble, test, repair and/or refurbishment of controls equipment, wellhead systems and subsea tooling within the production department. Perform general duties within the workshop environment to assist manufacturing activities. To carry out any other requirements needed to allow the company to operate efficiently.
To work in a safe manner at all times, to comply with all current safety legislation and Company safety policy.
To work to ISO 9001.
To work to project specific quality plans.
To work at all times to the Company’s Quality Management System.
To complete all activities identified within the department work packs.
Perform strip down, assembly and test activities in line with work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures, under direct guidance and supervision.
Ensure all calibrated equipment used within the build, test process is within calibration date and rated for the work activities.
Maintain workshop plant and equipment including test equipment.
Ensure work area is maintained in a safe and tidy manner.
Play a pro-active role in housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives.
As necessary, perform other duties, requiring essentially the same level of skill & responsibility, when required.

THE PERSON
ONC in Mechanical Engineering.
Have completed a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering
Have Wellhead system and or Subsea Tooling experience.
Demonstrable experience relevant to the position.
Proven demonstrable ability to fault find.
Proven ability to handle large mechanical assemblies in a manual assembly environment.
Proven ability to read mechanical assembly drawings and hydraulic schematics.
Demonstrable experience working with hydrostatic & gas test equipment.
High level of awareness of HSE issues and measures in a workshop environment.
Be able to work as part of a team and exercise tolerance and consistency when dealing with others.
Be able to problem solve seeking solutions through the expertise of both self and others, researching the facts with care and resolving problems in a timely and thorough manner.
Be systematic approach to decision making, ensuring all the necessary facts and information are available and accurate.
Ability to work to a high specification in order to improve and maintain quality.
Must have the drive and enthusiasm to work to tight deadlines.
Must seek direction and authority from others when and if appropriate, and achieve set goals in an efficient and timely manner.
Good time-management and organisational skills.
Confident communicator both verbally and written.
Focus on results and willingly tackle problems or conflicts which threaten their achievement.
